LucidLink Unicode Duplicates
Desktop appFind files whose names look identical but are stored differently because of Unicode normalization (NFC vs NFD). Review each pair side by side, then delete, rename, or add a suffix to resolve it.
Unicode Duplicates finds files whose names look identical but are stored differently. Accented characters, like the é in résumé.pdf, can be saved in two different ways (called NFC and NFD), and macOS doesn't always save them the same way Windows and Linux do. The result can be two files that appear to have the same name, side by side. This tool finds those pairs and helps you resolve each one safely.
Key capabilities
🔍 Scan and detect
Scans any folder in your filespace and finds every pair of files whose names only differ in how their characters are stored.
⚖️ Side-by-side compare
Shows each pair's size, modified date, and a preview side by side, so you can decide which one to keep.
✂️ Resolve in bulk
Choose an action for each pair (keep one, delete, rename, or add a suffix) and apply them all at once. You confirm with a typed code before anything is deleted or renamed.
🌐 Accent removal helper
Converts accented filenames to plain-letter versions for Czech, German, French, Polish, and other languages that use Latin characters.
Who it's for
- Teams moving content between macOS and Windows or Linux, where these duplicates start to show up
- Admins whose sync or migration tools have created duplicate copies of files with accented names
- Anyone with international filenames who sees "file already exists" errors on one operating system but not another
Import a saved scan
Already have a scan log? Import it to review the results in the app without scanning again, which saves time on very large filespaces.
